Our annual celebration event will take place on Thursday 29 June 2017 in The Chamber at City Hall. The event will feature speakers from education and health who will talk about the contribution of Healthy Schools London to the health and wellbeing of children and young people and wider impacts.

Over 100 schools will collect their Silver and Gold Awards.

Speakers on the day include:

  • Joanne McCartney, Deputy Mayor for London (Education and Childcare)
  • Chris Jarvis and Pui Fan Lee, BBC Children's TV presenters
  • Diverse Voices, Theatre in Education
  • Headteachers, staff and pupils from London schools
  • Youth Health Champions

Big Dance 2016 returns for the last time with hundreds of events around the UK in all styles of dance. Wherever you live, there will be opportunities for you to take part, perform, watch, volunteer or get involved in any way you’d like.

The Big Dance Pledge for schools takes place at 1pm on 20 May 2016 and the free downloadable resources will be available from 5 January 2016.

Our annual Healthy Schools London Celebration Event took place on Friday 24 June 2016 in The Chamber at City Hall. 250 delegates attended including more than 100 schools who were collecting their Silver and Gold Awards.

The event was chaired by Dr Helen Jenner, Corporate Director for Children’s Service, LB Barking & Dagenham. Helen welcomed a number of speakers including Duncan Selbie, Chief Executive, Public Health England, Dr Harry Rutter, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Dr Lorraine Cale, School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, Loughborough University, Dr Michael Nelson, Public Health Nutrition Research Ltd and Karen Jaeggi, Executive Headteacher, Worcesters Primary School.

Schools that shared their stories at the event were Beit Shvidler Primary School, LB Barnet, Holy Trinity C of E Primary School, LB Haringey, Scargill Infant School, LB Havering and Ravenor Primary School, LB Ealing.

The event began with the Highfield Junior School Choir from LB Bromley who sang beautifully. They sang the songs from the Get healthy, get singing! Sing up resource. This is available to download for free from  www.singup.org/healthy-schools
